Grand Velas Puerto Vallarta, a Luxury Experience

While in Puerto Vallarta, we visited a total of three properties.  That is what traveling with me is like now, I have to see as much as possible so I can advise my clients properly.  Poor Rob!  My last two emails were about our time at Hyatt Ziva PV, but we also visited Grand Velas and Hard Rock.  I did a thorough review of Hard Rock properties a couple of months ago so I am just going to focus on Grand Velas this time.  I think Hard Rock is a solid brand, and I really like it for group trips, but for a luxury All-Inclusive experience, Grand Velas is the way to go in Mexico.  Plus, it is a Virtuoso property which means exclusive amenities for my clients!

Upon arrival, we were given the most relaxing chair massages.  You really can’t beat an arrival like this!  Of course, we had to visit the spa after this teaser.  No photos of the inside of the spa, but trust me when I say that it was worth the visit.  I did take a photo of this flower petal arrangement at the spa though, and I think it speaks to the attention to detail experienced in the spa.

We are big fans of bougainvillea since it is synonymous with Greece, so we loved how it hung from the buildings.

All of the grounds are meticulously maintained and gave off a distinct Hawaiian vibe.  Since Greece and Hawaii are our family’s two favorite destinations. we really liked the feel of the resort.  We also liked how kid friendly it is!  Even though the kids were not with us, we visited the Kids Club for future reference.  I know I would be happy to be a kid in this kid’s club!

I think a lot of resorts think about keeping little kids entertained, but the older kids get left out.  Not at Grand Velas! They have a teen club that kids over 12 can visit on their own.  It is an entire lounge full of games and gaming plus a snack bar and plenty of room for lounging.  No doubt, a teen would feel pretty cool hanging out in this space.  What I really appreciate is that children under 12 can visit with a grown up.  While, this might take away from the cool factor for the teens, I am guessing most families with younger kids visit during the day.  As you can see, it wasn’t very crowded during the day!  This space would be especially appreciated on a rainy day in paradise!

The food and drinks at Grand Velas are beyond compare.  That is the chief complaint of many who visit All-Inclusives, but that is not an issue at Grand Velas.  We were able to visit all of the restaurants.  I really appreciate the design elements in each one.  There is no question that you are in an upscale Mexican restaurant, it feels authentic, yet elegant.

Ok, the last photo is of the wine cooler at the Italian restaurant but I had to include it because I love wine, and it is awesome.  You know what else is awesome?  The views from the outdoor restaurant …

… and the sunsets in general.

I guess you probably want to know what the rooms look like, right?  For that, you get a video!  See the room tour below.
